The 1st call for applications to the 5th edition of the Advanced Studies Course in Architectural Heritage (CEAPA), promoted by the Faculty of Architecture - University of Porto (FAUP) and coordinated by Professor Rui Fernandes Póvoas, is open between 2 May and 2 June, 2017. For the second phase, applications must be submitted between 17 and 31 August 2017. Applications must be submitted with the specific application form available on FAUP website.
The advanced studies course in Architectural Heritage is a FAUP initiative that aims to provide specific post-graduate training (Bologna third cycle level) in the field of restoration, conservation and rehabilitation of architectural heritage.
This course has a duration of one year and will be taught on a part-time basis, during daytime. The syllabus is much related to the current doctoral program at the Faculty of Architecture, as part of a studies profile in the field of Architectural Heritage, which was established in the academic year of 2012 -2015.
The teaching staff includes researchers in various domains within the programme's key scientific field, from different Portuguese universities (FAUP, Faculdade de Engenharia da Universidade do Porto - FEUP; Centro de investigação em Arquitetura, Urbanismo e Design - CIAUD, da Faculdade de Arquitetura da Universidade de Lisboa - FA-ULisboa; Departamento de Engenharia Civil/Universidade de Aveiro e Universidade Católica Portuguesa) and foreign universities (Escuela Técnica Superior de Arquitectura de Madrid, Politecnico di Milano, Università degli Studi Roma Tre).
This Advanced Studies Course counts also with several guest lecturers from various Portuguese institutions such as the
Ministry of Culture, the National Laboratory for Civil Engineering (LNEC) and the Portuguese Professional Association of Conservation and Restoration.Design Architectural Methodologies, Research Seminar, Theory and History, Construction Technologies and Heritage Management are the practical and theoretical components of the study plan for CEAPA.
This programme is primarily intended for graduates in Architecture, whose basic training is considered particularly appropriate for their frequency. Professional areas targeted are those traditionally related with research, architectural design project and other related areas such as engineering, archeology, conservation and restoration, etc., of both the public and private sector.
